The Plan God has for you

Proverbs 19:21 New International Version (NIV)

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.

I’ve carried a devotion to the plans of my future by myself, pondering the thought deeply about how crucial it is to invest in one’s own future. It was a solemn reflection, a personal commitment to nurturing and fostering the path that lies ahead. I have meticulously crafted plans upon plans, meticulously scheduling each step, establishing fallback plans for every potential detour or roadblock, for every scenario that may not go as intended. Hours upon hours have been dedicated to strategizing, mapping out what I believed to be the predetermined route that I must follow. However, how mistaken was I in assuming that I held all the answers.

It dawns on me now that perhaps, in my fervour for self-reliance, I neglected a vital step in this journey—seeking validation and guidance from a higher authority, from the divine forces that shape our destinies. What use are our plans if they are not aligned with the greater plan that God has in store for us? What worth is there in a relationship, be it with others or with the divine, if we hold back parts of ourselves, if we fail to extend our aspirations and intentions for fear of scrutiny or redirection?

It is through the verse in Proverbs 19:21; that I was enlightened, realizing the insignificance of the exhaustive plans I meticulously put together when compared to the grand design that God has intricately woven for me. Each step, each decision made in isolation, pales in comparison to the holistic and all-encompassing purpose that God has envisioned for my life.

Share your plans to the Lord, but more importantly wait on his call…
